We’ve all been trying our hands at some DIY recipes since the quarantine began. When we were encouraged to visit the grocery stores less frequently, we found ourselves stocking our pantries and, in place of eating out, thinking we were the next Chef Gordon Ramsay in our homes.
Sad to say, this certainly wasn’t the case. Whether I was trying my hand at a recipe from my favourite vegan cookbook or winging it in the kitchen, I must admit that not all my culinary creations were rockstars (or even edible).
Thankfully, I found one tool that has helped me become the mediocre plant-based chef of my dreams during quarantine - YouTube!
There’s something about watching a dish be made that aided me in creating my own. While I searched for delicious plant-based recipes I wanted to try, I came across loads of incredible plant-based and vegan chefs who were funny, creative, and talked me through these recipes almost every step of the way.
Get ready for your mouth to water as we reveal our favourite ten best vegan YouTuBe channels! Bon appetit!
We kick-start this post with one of the most viewed YouTube channels of them all - BOSH! This plant-based and vegan recipe channel is the lovechild of Henry Firth and Ian Theasby, best-selling authors and social media sensations.
They break down the idea that vegan and plant-based food is complex and mind-blowing to cook and instead show the world how easy it is to make with their fun and quirky videos! In addition to being good for the planet, their recipes are healthy and good for your body, and they even sell three cookbooks to complement their instructional videos!
Some of the delicious recipe videos on their YouTube channel include delicious Pulled Jackfruit Sandwiches, Buffalo Cauliflower Wing Tacos, Thai Tempeh Salad, and so much more! You seriously need to check these guys out.
The incredible vegan chef Gaz Oakley is teaching wannabe cooks through their electronic devices every Sunday on his YouTube channel, Avantgarde Vegan! Oakley worked in the culinary world as a chef and only went vegan four years ago. His recipes are exciting and divine, and he creates loads of dishes I know I certainly missed as someone who has given up animal products, including:
Feel free to recreate some of his most delicious tutorials with the help of his cookbook, #VEGAN100!
Rachel Ama is cooking up a delicious vegan storm on her YouTube cooking channel! We love her playful and welcoming energy she exudes during her tutorials - it makes you feel like you’re in the kitchen with her as she cooks!
Ama gives plenty of helpful recommendations along the way in her videos, including different alternatives for ingredients (e.g., kimchi vs sauerkraut), which grills to use for cooking and why, and so much more. She truly makes it easy for anyone to join her tutorials regardless of their cooking skills (or lack thereof).
She was recently on Gaz Oakley’s channel in January, and we loved watching two of our favourite YouTube chefs cook together!

Sweet Potato Soul
Delicious vegan recipes, natural beauty tips, sustainable fashion ideas - you’ll get all this and more on Sweet Potato Soul’s YouTube channel! Jenne Claiborne is behind the delicious recipes on this channel. Originally from Georgia, this chef eventually made her way to Los Angeles to share her easy recipes with us. She learned lots of her culinary skills from her Nana and began getting creative with healthy food later in college.
“I became vegan because I think it’s wrong to exploit animals for their meat and reproductive processes,” Claiborne writes on her website. “Even though I didn’t give up animal products for my health or happiness, both have greatly improved.”

Britt is bringing us in quarantine some “banging ass vegan eats.” With an opening like that, we knew we were going to love her and her YouTube channel, B Foreal! She makes delicious plant-based recipes that even the most carnivorous of meat-eaters will love, which is one of the things we love about her. Her videos are not just vegans but for vegetarians, flexitarians, people who may have no idea about veganism but just want to give it a try, and more.
Many of her recipes are pretty rare finds in the vegan food realm, including Vegan Chili Lime Fish Tacos, Vegan Crab Cake Sliders, and Vegan Red Velvet Pancakes (have you ever even heard of these?!). Her recipes make being vegan both exciting and delicious, and we are so happy to have discovered her channel!

The Happy Pear
The Happy Pear is a twin brother duo brought to you by Dave and Steve. These hilarious Irish twins feature simple, quick, and affordable tutorial videos - three things we love about any good vegan recipe! Their journey started 14 years ago in a vegetable shop, and today, their Happy Pear products are sold all over the country and in the UK in addition to their successful YouTube channel, which has 424K subscribers!
They post two videos a week, and one thing we love about their consistent content is that they make a lot of five-minute dinner series videos. I don’t know about you, but I find it incredibly intimidating when I come across a cooking video that is 30 minutes or more, so finding videos featuring delicious and easy recipes that I can do in five minutes is incredible! They even set a timer and everything. Check out some of their top five-minute videos below:
If you have a sweet tooth and want to attempt to make vegan desserts, look no further than this YouTube channel: Deliciously Ella! She uploads a new plant-based recipe for you to try every Sunday at 6 p.m. Get ready for sweet potato brownies, cacao and almond energy balls, five-minute chocolate porridge, and so many other delicious desserts. In addition to sweets, she also shared recipes from her cookbook as well as breakfast, lunch, and dinner recipes!
One thing we really like about her videos is that they are the most professionally made out of the group. She has amazing slow motion and closeup shots of these recipes in the making while she shares the instructions in voice overlay. It’ll feel like you’re watching a delicious cinematic movie!
